Pena Blvd Development
NAIOP 2020 Challenge

Pena Blvd. corridor between Denver and Denver International Airport (DIA), CO, USA

108,000 SF

2020
  • As DIA has grown, international business interest in Denver through DIA has increased.
  • We designed a new commercial development along
  • Included a new event center within development with accessible rooftop garden, two-level entry and atrium, central courtyard, and outdoor amphitheater with attached plaza.

A two-story event center with public atrium and entry, event spaces, central garden, amphitheater, and parking garage anchored the development within the greater Denver city context.

By using a semi-transparent entry facade, the design allowed for a gradual shift from the outdoor public plaza into the event center entry lobby.

The amphitheater created an opportunity to bring audible and visual interest from around the development to the event center.

Between Denver and Boulder in Colorado, The Town of Superior wanted to create a unique urban identity and metropolitan center. The new Superior metro center includes 17 buildings, including "The Wrap."

The Wrap, a six-level mixed-use building, is the heart of the Superior Metro Center. It includes retail spaces, a civic center, business hub, apartment units, and rooftop pool and patio.

Bethesda Assisted Living Addition: South Elevation

Every person with Alzheimer's disease retains a memory of the natural world. The feeling of water on their hands, the calm of a warm breeze, and the smell of spring flowers, those sensory-activated feelings do not disappear; a natural memory imprint.

By using warmer natural materials, colors, and textures in the facade, we created a connection to the natural landscape and reinforced that natural memory imprint.

2016
  • We created a Master Plan for New York University (NU) Hospital.
  • Master Plan Design Guidelines were responsive and sensitive to health disparities and related factors within the local community.
  • We used demographic, site, and policy research to document existing health disparities within the surrounding community.
  • To support local homeless and transient population and people in crisis, including domestic abuse victims and children-at-risk of homelessness, we designed a new transitional housing village within the hospital campus.
  • To create equitable access to mental health support, we created a central behavioral health facility within the M.O.B. building layout.
  • The new central behavioral health facility includes therapists, counselors, social workers, a psychiatric ICU, and other behavioral health specialists.
  • Created plan for gender-neutral and universally accessible hospital facilities, including primary care facilities, restrooms, and housing.
